Today – December 26th – begins the process of preparing to spend two and a half months trading snow and cold for sand and sun. This is definitely not a “little” trip at 2300 miles one way, but within any big trip there are many, many little trips. We will be Travelers…. Tourists see what they go to see and Travelers see what they see. Last year we left Minnesota on January 1 and traveled to Southern California by way of Old Route 66. This year we will just head southwest and see what we encounter.
Each year tens of thousands of people head south to escape the cold and the first time you head out can be more than a little intimidating and frustrating. I invite you to travel with us via this blog beginning with making the lists of what needs to be done prior to leaving home. Fortunately for us there are some things that we do not have to deal with because we have Jim house sitting while we are gone. Efficient packing is perhaps the most difficult part in any trip. The second most difficult task is where to find the room to take home all of those treasures you purchased while you were gone. Last year we ended up buying a car top carrier. This year we’re going to have to carefully watch what we purchase. We won’t have the luxury of adding to our space with another car top carrier. Last year I did not document our expenses and this year I will be doing that. Last year I did not document where we went and what we did on a daily basis and this year I will also be doing detailed documenting.
So come along with us and be sure to comment. We will have lots of travel tips to share with you and we, as well as our followers, will welcome all the tips you have to share with us.
