If one could take away some of the traffic in San Diego County and if my grandchildren lived there, that would be, in my estimation, the ideal place to live on so many levels. Fortunately, San Diego County has made some very positive progress in dealing with their transportation issues. It’s not quite a “Breeze”, but between the “Breeze”, “Sprinter”, and the “Coaster.” San Diego North County Transit District has implemented a very accessible and inexpensive transportation system.
The “Breeze” consists of buses that run from Oceanside to Sorrento Valley where they connect with the “Coaster”. There are several stops as shown here http://www.gonctd.com/breeze
The “Sprinter” is a light rail that runs from Escondido to Oceanside where it connects with the “Coaster”. Stops are as shown here: http://www.gonctd.com/sprinter
It is the “Coaster” that runs from Oceanside to San Diego that I’m going to highlight here. The Coaster runs more than 20 trains on weekdays and additional trains are added on the weekends. The entire route takes about an hour and services eight stations. The website is: http://www.gonctd.com/coaster
The light rail runs along the coastline and the scenery is breathtaking whether you are riding during the day or at sunset. This ride is worth the price of the ticket even if you don’t plan on stopping in Oceanside or San Diego. The Coaster is also a two level train and on the upper level there are tables between bench seats facing each other. The view is best on the second level.
