“You live in what?” is one of my favorite HGTV shows so imagine my surprise when we were traveling along looking for treasures at the 25th Annual World’s Longest Yard Sale and we came upon a Flying Saucer House.    It is located on Signal Mountain in Chattanooga, Tenn

Curious as to whose idea that was I googled it and there was a post from one of the previous owner’s granddaughter.  It appears that it subsequently was purchased as a vacation rental home.  There are some accounts of people who rented it back in 2010, but I can’t locate anything on it after that time.  It would be fun to hear from someone who has more information as to what its status is today.

“I have visited this unique “Space House,” located on Signal Mountain, numerous times. It was owned by my grandparents for many years until approximately five years ago they sold it and moved back to their other home in Michigan. It has a drop-down airplane door which leads into a bar area with 13 mirrors on the wall. You then take a few steps up a spiral staircase that lands you on the main level. Here you find a living room, kitchen with eating area (with a balcony looking over the highway), two large bedrooms and two full baths (one very large with a large round stone tub). From the living room there are a few steps that take you to a small “landing” that leads you to the third bedroom. This is a completely round interior room with no closet. There are small ceiling lights around the edge of the circle. A very fun house. My boys loved visiting and telling their friends that their gr-grandparents lived in a spaceship. It would be a fun house to stay for a weekend with friends. My grandparents are very cool people who loved this house! I heard it just sold again. This time to someone who is planning to rent it out. Check it out!
