It’s April 15th — the temperature is 36 (feels like 27), the wind is 12 MPH, gusting to 24 MPH, and there’s about 4 inches of snow on the ground. On February 2 Punxsutawney Phil failed to see his shadow and so it was proclaimed by his trainer Bob Roberts: “And so ye faithful, there is no shadow to see, an early Spring for you and me.” Well, there goes my faith in groundhog predictions. And the weather forecasters aren’t doing much better.
There is a place you can go, however, where you can dream that Spring has arrived. It will give you a few hours reprieve from the depressing fact that winter is still very much with us — The Arboretum, Conservatory, Botanical Gardens — whatever it is called in your area.
The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Zoo in St. Paul is just the place to throw off those winter doldrums in Minnesota.
